The future of work and its impact on the employee experience is one of the most pressing business issues of our collective lifetimes. As we emerge from the global pandemic, companies large and small are wrestling with how to support employee engagement and their demands for sustained flexibility and remote work, while maintaining healthy business results. In this highly interactive workshop, we’ll help participants understand how they can unleash the productivity, satisfaction and engagement of their people while thinking ahead to what’s next in the workplace.

Part discussion, part hackathon, participants will leave energized to revolutionize the employee experience at their own organizations. We’ll begin with a discussion of the new world of work, exploring the many factors that have changed the way people approach their jobs and what this means for IC and HR professionals. We’ll then highlight actionable ways to inspire brilliance from employees in the new world of work. Armed with these strategies, we’ll launch into the most exciting part of the session—a future of work “hackathon.”

Participants will be divided up into small teams, each with a specific engagement challenge. Each team will have time to discuss their challenge statement and design a solution. When time’s up, each team will have 2 minutes to present their concept, and we’ll select a winner. The winning team will get a very cool prize (but everyone’s a winner because all participants will walk away with tools and ideas to bring back to their work)!

Like most of the US workforce, staff members who could transitioned to remote work during the pandemic. For an organization with a strong in-person culture, a largely remote work setup was not something we had considered. From setting up the right technology to offering wellbeing supports, our team was charged with communicating major changes to a workforce spread across 10 hospitals and hundreds of outpatient centers. Just as our workforce became comfortable with the remote environment, we started asking them to come back. We’re moving toward our post-pandemic work model now, and are charged with communicating change once again while keeping employees happy and engaged.

In 2015, Nationwide Insurance opened a livestreaming video broadcast studio which levels the playing field between those in the home office of Columbus, Ohio and those in other office locations or working from home. No longer are there two different experiences for meeting attendees – those who can attend in person and those who watch from their computers. Now, every viewer has the same viewing experience, one that mimics a television talk show where conversations are favored over presentations. In this session, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how the studio works and hear from the host of a biweekly Health & Wellness broadcast who uses the studio’s capabilities to connect with employees from across the country and share the same message one time, in one place.

A company is only as good as its culture. When a company lacks an inclusive, connected culture, productivity can suffer. With the craziness of the past year, many companies are struggling to connect with employees. What do employees want and need from communications, their managers, and leadership.
